Про Дуолинго, польский и английский

Прошла на Дуолинго полный курс польского языка (на английском). Как-то быстро этот курс закончился, да и не особо впечатлил, если честно.
Сижу, думаю, чё теперь делать. Вроде привыкла уже: потыкаешь в Дуолинго во время завтрака/обеда и потом некоторые слова легче узнаются в потоке речи или тексте.
От скуки переключила язык интерфейса на польский и начала проходить курс английского… на польском.
Бли-и-ин! Ребята, вы не поверите! Вот теперь я больше польский тренирую, чем английский. А когда у меня стояло обучение польскому через английский – мало что из польского мне запоминалось.

Book review: Just Plain Weird ★★★★★

Just Plain Weird by Tom Upton. I got this book as a free kindle purchase some years ago (on January 7, 2014) and I really wasn’t expecting it to be that good.

What a story! I really loved this book. This was one of the best YA science fiction I’ve read so far.
It was well written, interesting and just-plain-weird. :)
Highly recommended!

Prisoner of My Desire – “Узник моего желания” на английском

Когда-то давно читала эту книгу на русском. У нас она называлась: “Узник моего желания” (автор Джоанна Линдсей). И вот наконец-то удалось найти книгу на английском языке: Prisoner of My Desire by Johanna Lindsey, и прочитать ее в оригинале.

Интересно, но… мне больше понравилась русская версия. Обычно бывает наоборот, и я от оригинала просто оторваться не могу, однако здесь я так и не смогла погрузиться в историю до конца, почувствовать ту химию, что была между персонажами в русской переводе.

Прочитать книгу в оригинале, конечно, всегда интересно, но вот если соберусь когда-нибудь перечитывать эту историю – буду читать ее на русском языке. :)

A short book review: Project Snow ★★★★★

Project Snow by Cherita Smith. I got this book as a free kindle purchase about six months ago (on November 21, 2017) and I really enjoyed reading it a lot.

It was an interesting short story that had me gripped from the very beginning and kept me guessing until the very end! I’d definitely like to read more books written by this author.

“О всех созданиях – больших и малых” – на английском

Книга Джеймса Хэрриота “О всех созданиях – больших и малых” – одна из самых любимых книг моего детства. Брала ее в библиотеке много раз: читала, сдавала, а через какое-то время снова брала.
И вот, наконец-то в первый раз прочитала ее в оригинале – All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot
Смеялась и плакала, иногда одновременно. Удивительный талант у автора – умение перенести читателя в описываемые события настолько, что ты просто не можешь оторваться от истории.
И даже зная, чем дело кончится, ты каждый раз, как в первый, переживаешь за героев книги, всех без исключения, людей и животных с одинаковой силой!

Кстати, в оригинальной версии все это еще сильнее ощущается. И возможно поэтому я читала книгу так долго. Просто… не хотелось, чтобы она заканчивалась. Хотелось побыть с персонажами еще немного подольше.

Красный Мерфи – Essential Grammar in Use

Прочитала наконец-то знаменитый Красный Мерфи – Essential Grammar in Use with Answers: A Self-Study Reference and Practice Book for Elementary Students of English by Raymond Murphy.

До-о-олго я его проходила, то начинала, то снова откладывала. Грамматическое пособие отличное, но вот незадача: позанимаешься неделю и надоедает… Может потому, что достался он мне без диска. Возможно, с диском было бы интереснее и дело бы быстрее пошло.

Но как бы то ни было, книга действительно хорошая. Дома у меня уже лежит продолжение: Синий Мерфи – English Grammar in Use with Answer: A Self-Study Reference and Practice Book for Intermediate Students by Raymond Murphy. Буду заниматься!
