Language learning is a wavelike process – Why waves of language learning are important?

Language learning is a wavelike process. Periods of intensive learning are followed by periods of rest and so on. And I think, that’s the very way it should be.

There are times when we are on the crest of a wave of learning a language, and in such moments we really want to learn, and we learn with passion, absorbing information like a sponge. And there are also times when we just want to put our textbooks aside and rest for a while.

To me, both of these phases are very important. Maybe the second even more than the first! We just cannot study intensively non-stop and push ourselves every single day. We should definitely have periods of rest; to put the knowledge we’ve gotten in the right places in our head. So that later, we can eagerly start learning languages again!

Learning Vocabulary in a New Language – What words to learn after the Survival Phrases?

Today I’m going to talk to you about vocabulary that we learn in a new language, and especially about words and expressions that we need to learn after we’ve already learned some basic survival phrases.

I’m really curious about that, because I plan to start learning a new language in the near future, and I’d like to share with you some thoughts and ideas about what I usually do when I start (and continue) to learn vocabulary in a foreign language.

Thank you so much for watching! ❤️

Reading poetry in Armenian – Hovhannes Shiraz poem /Հովհաննես Շիրազ – Մորս սրտի հետ աշխարհն եմ չափել

In this video I’m reading in Armenian a short poem by Hovhannes Shiraz – one of the greatest Armenian poets of the 20th century. It’s audio only, with Armenian subtitles.

This recording was made a year ago to track my reading and pronunciation progress in the Armenian language. Sorry for the bad audio quality, I recorded this on my phone.

🔴 About
Hi! I’m Kate, a bookworm and a language enthusiast. For many years I enjoy reading books, listening to audiobooks, watching movies in different languages but I still can’t speak. I cannot express myself and my thoughts as clearly as fluently as I want (without a prepared script).
The same problem with my native language – Russian. Public speaking always was a nightmare to me… 🙈
So that is why I decided to start making videos in different languages. I really want to get out of my comfort zone, to overcome my fear of speaking in foreign languages and have an opportunity to talk to all of you guys about everything!!!
My friends call me a silent polyglot …. but I don’t want to be silent anymore! :)

Language learning is a never-ending process – There is always something new to learn! / #shorts

Hey friends! Lately, many people have been asking me, why do you keep saying that you’re still learning English? You already have a decent level of it.

You know, that’s a really interesting question. I just can’t say that I’ve learned the language completely.

To me, language learning is a never-ending process. There is always new vocabulary to learn, new slang that appears every year. Even in our own languages there are always new things to explore.

Of course, it all depends on your language learning goals. But if you don’t learn a language just to pass an exam, if you want to use the language all your life – get ready for a long language learning journey and just enjoy the process.

The Polish version was really good! I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I learned a lot from the book. 👍

The first book by Barbara Cartland I’ve read in English

Barbara Cartland pure romance novels. I love reading them from time to time in Russian. 🇷🇺 This was the first novel by Barbara Cartland that I’ve read in English 🇬🇧 and I liked the book!

The Marquis Who Hated Women by Barbara Cartland. In Russian it would be called “Маркиз, который ненавидел женщин”. :)

Some interesting words and expressions from this book:

🔹 hamper = корзина с продуктами (с крышкой)
🔹 by hook or by crook = by any means = всеми правдами и неправдами, во что бы то ни стало (“… find her father by hook or by crook.“)

“Поединок” – А.И. Куприн

Замечательное произведение! Глубокое, напряженное и удивительно современное. Книга, после которой ходишь под впечатлением еще несколько дней!
Очень рада. что в школьные годы я ее не читала. В то время многого не смогла бы понять и прочувствовать так, как сейчас.

The Duel by Aleksandr Kuprin. 🇷🇺❤️ I really loved this book! Actually, it was one of the best Russian classic books I’ve read this year!
